Your feedback regarding proposed legislative changes is requested.

Barb Gerken, OAHU Legislative Chair, will host a webinar on Thursday, June 23 to review pending legislative changes to Medicare Supplement Sales practices, introduced via HB675.    

The bill removes current prohibitions on the following types of solicitation of Medicare supplement policies:

1. Print solicitation such as leaflets, flyers, or door hangers left at residences or on motor vehicles;
2. In-person solicitations of individuals at the individual's residence or in public or common areas such as parking lots, hallways, lobbies, or sidewalks;
3. Telephonic or electronic solicitation such as electronic voicemail messages, text messages, or direct social media messages.

The legislative team has solicited feedback over the past few weeks.  Based on conflicting views, we find it important to take this issue to the larger membership group.  The webinar will provide members the opportunity to voice their opinion and to hear differing sides of the topic.  Barb will facilitate the session and be available as long as necessary to accommodate anyone wishing to participate.  As practiced on the national level, we will limit comments to five minutes each to allow everyone the chance to speak.  The call will be recorded and sent to all members.  A formal member vote will follow the call.
